Lecce visit the Allianz Stadium tomorrow Wednesday 3 May for Serie A Matchday 33. The side from Salento gave themselves some breathing space in their battle to stave off relegation with a narrow win over Udinese last weekend.

Let's find out more about the team coached by Marco Baroni, who led the Giallorossi back to the top flight last summer as Serie B champions.

THE SEASON SO FAR

Lecce reached the turning point of the season with an eight-point advantage on the drop zone on the back of a six-match unbeaten run that started before the World Cup in Qatar and continued into the first weeks of the new year. In mid-February a second win over Atalanta this campaign kept the Salentini in 13th place on 27 points.

However, Baroni's side entered a negative phase and lost seven of their next eight matches without success, failing to score in six of those encounters. Friday's 1-0 win at the Via del Mare stadium over Udinese saw the side return to winning ways. They sit in 17th place on 31 points, with a four-point advantage over Spezia and Hellas Verona, tied in the final relegation place on 27 points.

Away from home, Lecce have lost without scoring in all of their last four Serie A games. However, the Salentini have won more often away than at home this season, four victories on the road to three at the Via del Mare, and have collected just one point less on their travels.

KEEP AN EYE ON...

The big loss for Lecce is that top scorer Gabriel Strefezza is suspended. The winger ended a 10-match run without a goal with the winner against Udinese. For the number 27 it was his eighth goal of the season, his second from the penalty spot.

Behind the Brazilian in the scoring ranks is Assan Ceesay, on five goals, the most recent of which arrived three games ago in a 1-1 draw with Sampdoria. The Gambian striker was also on target in Lecce's last away win, on February 19 at the Gewiss Stadium against Atalanta.
