Milan qualified for the Coppa Italia semi-final against Juventus after progressing - just like the Bianconeri - through two rounds in the competition. In the Round of 16 the Rossoneri beat SPAL 3-0 at San Siro. It was an easy victory, with two goals in the first half (Piatek and Castillejo) and one in the second half (Hernandez).
In the quarterfinals, on the other hand, the game was more complicated, although, in the end, they secured qualification through a 4-2 extra time victory against Torino. The fixture saw the Rossoneri forced to pull off a comeback, after Bremer's brace put the Granata 2-1 ahead. However, a goal just before the final whistle by Calhanoglu, ensured the game went into extra time at 2-2. The Turkish international then scored his second to make the scoreline 3-2, before Ibrahimovic ended result with Milan's fourth goal.
Between Serie A and the Coppa Italia, Theo Hernandez is the player to have scored the most times for Milan, bagging a goal on six occasions. He is then followed by Piatek (sold a few days ago to Herta Berlin) and Calhanoglu with five, Rebić (four), Bonaventura and Ibrahimović (three), Leao (two), Kessiè, Castillejo and Suso (one). The latter also left Milan a few weeks ago to return to Spain.
Meanwhile, the only player to have played in all 25 the matches and every single minute is Alessio Romagnoli.
Stefano Pioli's Milan
Despite arriving into this game off the back of a bitter defeat on Sunday against rivals Inter at San Siro, Pioli's Milan, after a difficult period before the winter break, seems to have found greater continuity in terms of performance and identity, which has considerably changed through the arrival of Ibrahimović.
The Swedish player has in fact improved the Rossoneri's goalscoring chances, which was lacking in the first part of the season. This, in turn, has allowed Pioli to work better on the defensive phase, leaving the genius and physicality of the new arrival to impact the offensive part of the game,
On Sunday, AC Milan proved to be in good physical condition against the Nerazzurri (109 km ran), especially in the first half, despite having crumbled in the second half.
The most used formation in the last few games is that of 4-4-1-1 or 4-3-2-1 depending on the position occupied by Rebić, who has proven to be influential for the Diavoli of late.
