It was a night of celebration for two Bianconeri, as Croatia and Switzerland both booked their places at next summer’s World Cup.
Croatia travelled to Greece having won the first leg of their play-off tie 4-1, however unlike the first match there was no glut of goals as the game finished 0-0. After staying on the bench in Croatia, this time Mario Mandzukic played the full 90 minutes for the Vatreni.
Over in Basel it proved to be a similarly cagey affair, as Switzerland and Northern Ireland also drew 0-0, after a 1-0 win for the Swiss in Belfast. Stephan Lichtsteiner again played the full match for home side.
Tonight, Italy will be hoping to recover from their 1-0 defeat against Sweden in the first leg. The Azzurri have Juve’s Gianluigi Buffon, Andrea Barzagli, Giorgio Chiellini, Daniele Rugani and Federico Bernardeschi at their disposal in the San Siro.
Elsewhere Wojciech Szczęsny could feature in friendly action, as he’s part of a Poland squad who welcome Mexico.
