Paul Pogba has had some week.

Following his classy performance in Thursday evening’s 6-1 Coppa Italia victory over Hellas Verona, the 21-year-old was at his best once again as he opened the scoring and dictated proceedings in tonight’s 4-0 league triumph over the same opposition.

Speaking to reporters in the mixed zone following a good night’s work at Juventus Stadium, he began: “I’m happy with my display and the fact we kept a clean sheet, which is always important. I want to keep on performing and giving my all for this team.”

With the world firmly at his feet, Pogba was initally among the contenders for last year’s Ballon D’Or after two-and-a-half stellar campaigns in the black and white jersey.

But the French international isn’t getting carried away with the praise, instead stating that he continues to work hard to make sure he reaches the levels of his team-mates Gigi Buffon, Giorgio Chiellini and Andrea Pirlo before he can be judged among the world's elite.

“I need to do more because I want to be a champion just like Gigi, Andrea and Chiello. I want to be one of the best players in the world and to be able to reach this level, I need to play well. I focus on working on the pitch and giving all I’ve got for the squad.”

Even though tonight’s domestic success signalled the Bianconeri have opened up a five-point gap on nearest challengers Roma, Pogba was adamant he and his team-mates won’t be resting on their laurels with the season about to cross its halfway stage.

He concluded: “Roma are behind us but we’ll focus purely on ourselves and winning.”
