Preview: Roma vs Juventus Women

With the 2024/25 season nearing its end, every game carries extra weight for league leaders Juventus Women and that is truer than ever as they travel to take on Roma this weekend in the Poule Scudetto.

The last meeting between the two saw the Bianconere edge a seven-goal thriller in Biella.

Head-to-head

• Juventus have won three of their last four Serie A matches against Roma, losing the other. Generally, the Bianconere are the side to have beaten the Giallorosse the most in the Italian top flight (12 times, at least five times more than anybody else).
• Roma have conceded 42 league goals to Juventus, at least 14 more than against any other side and, again, a record high.
• In the five games between these two sides during the Poules phase of the season, the Bianconere have the edge with three wins to Roma’s two.
• There has never been a clean sheet kept in a Poule Scudetto meeting between these two sides, with those five games producing 26 goals for an average of 5.2 per game.
• Juventus have scored in each of their 18 Serie A matches against Roma.

• The Bianconere are, along with Barcelona and Lyon, one of three sides in Europe’s top-five leagues with the most goals scored from set pieces this season (all 19).
• Juventus have scored more goals than anybody in Serie A from crosses (12), Thile only Napoli and Sampdoria (eight each) have conceded more from crosses than Roma’s six.

• Since returning to Juventus in 2022/23, Roma are the side Sofia Cantore has had a hand in the most goals against (four goals, two assists). Generally speaking, only teammate Cristiana Girelli (six goals, two assists) has managed more against the Giallorosse.
• Cristiana Girelli is one of three players (along with Ewa Pajor and Lineth Beerensteyn) with the most goals scored across Europe’s top-five leagues this season (17 each). Girelli hasn’t managed more in a single campaign since hitting 22 in 2020/21.
• Chiara Beccari has scored two goals in her last three Serie A outings, as many as her previous 24. As well, among players across Europe’s top leagues with at least ten goals and assists since 2022/23, only Real Madrid’s Linda Caicedo is younger (Beccari has 13 goals and 11 assists in that time).
• Valentina Bergamaschi is one appearance shy of 150 in Serie A.

Opposition Focus

• Roma have hit the woodwork more than anybody in Europe’s top-five leagues this season (25 times), and four of those have come against Juventus.
• Last time out, Moeka Minami scored her third goal of the season, and only teammate Lucia Di Guglielmo (four) has more goals among defenders this campaign. As well, Juventus are one of the two teams that she has scored more than once against (twice, along with Fiorentina), including in the last game against the Bianconere in March.
• Valentina Giacinti is one goal shy of 50 in Serie A. The Roma No.9 has also scored against Juventus for three clubs - Milan, Fiorentina and Roma.
• Evelyn Viens is responsible for 20% of Roma’s Serie A goals against Juventus (five of 26), making her the Giallorosse’s top-scoring player against the Bianconere. As well, she has had a hand in at least one goal in six of her seven appearances against the Bianconere.
