Italy reached the U21 European Championship semi-finals on Saturday night after a decisive 1-0 win over Germany in Krakow.
Defeat to the Czech Republic in midweek had threatened to derail the Azzurri's campaign entirely but a sterling performance from Luigi Di Biagio's side - including rock-solid showings from Juventus' Daniele Rugani and Mattia Caldara in the heart of defence - saw them leapfrog the Germans into first place in Group C.
Federico Bernardeschi's goal on 30 minutes, has set up a semi-final encounter with Spain on Tuesday 27 June while Germany, the best runner-up across the three groups, will meet England.
In the night's other game, a Patrik Schick strike was not enough to prevent Czech Republic succumbing to a 4-2 defeat against Denmark.
