Sampdoria kicked off their season at home with a stellar September, defeating both Torino (2-0) and Chievo (2-1) at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.
Two consecutive victories soon became three the following month when former Bianconero Manolo Gabbiadini struck the winner in a 1-0 victory against Atalanta before Roma turned out to be the first team to take a point away from Genoa thanks to a 0-0 draw.
The Blucerchiati were back to winning ways almost immediately, however, as Italian trio Angelo Palombo, Luca Rizzo and Eder all scored in a comfortable 3-1 triumph over Fiorentina in November.
Sampdoria then wouldn’t taste success for the remainder of 2014 after Milan (2-2), Napoli (1-1) and Udinese (2-2) all returned home with a well-earned point in tow.
The changing of the months brought renewed hope as Sinisa Mihajlovic’s men saw in the new year on a victorious note, downing a resolute Empoli 1-0 courtesy of Eder’s solitary strike.
The Azzurri international would go on to score in the next three home matches at the Luigi Ferraris which all ended 1-1, as Palermo, Sassuolo and Genoa demonstrated their defensive mettle to all grind out positive results throughout January and February.
March saw a break from the draw rut, Lorenzo De Silvestri and Samuel Eto’o netting in a 2-0 success against Cagliari before Eder proved the thorn in Inter’s side during a narrow 1-0 victory.
But the stalemates soon resurfaced last month, with the Blucerchiati registering further draws versus both Cesena (0-0) and Hellas Verona (1-1).
Despite having dropped points on nine occasions this term, Sampdoria continue to remain unbeaten on home turf, last tasting defeat to Napoli in a 5-2 reverse back in May 2014.
And Mihajlovic will hope his side, who are closing in on a Europa League spot, can keep that run going when they welcome Massimiliano Allegri’s title chasing Juventus on Saturday evening.
