Good morning everyone and welcome to the Juventus shareholders' meeting. It is 10 am and we are opening the meeting.
I will make some more in-depth reflections at the meeting scheduled for January 18, which will confirm the new board of directors, but right now I would like to send my best wishes to the designated president Gianluca Ferrero and designated managing director Maurizio Scanavino, who is here with us today.
It is clear that the decision to resign from the position of Juventus president was not an easy decision for me. In addition to having always loved this club, I have in all these years worked as hard as I can to achieve the results that we have achieved, both on and off the field.
These have been extraordinary years, in which I had the honour of presiding over this club. However, it was a decision that I made with complete conviction and in complete serenity.
The company is now called upon to defend its position in the context of some initiatives taken against it, upon which I will not dwell because they are known to all present.
I personally, as well as all the members of our board of directors, are firmly convinced that the club has operated well over these years and that the remarks raised against us are not justified.
In this we are also reassured by the in-depth analyses conducted in recent weeks by independent experts who have issued specific opinions confirming the full correctness of the work of our board.
Nonetheless, the company will have to continue along the path taken in order to protect the interests of the club and to demonstrate its good and legitimate reasons at each location.
For this reason, with the same spirit of service and attachment to our company that characterised my presidency, I now retain that it is appropriate to take a step back so to avoid the situation that if I continued in my role one could think that the choices or actions that will have to be taken from here on were even only partially conditioned by my personal involvement in some of the events that the company has to face.
Juventus, therefore, comes before everything and everyone.
Fino alla Fine.
