Carlos Tevez believes the Bianconeri will need to be on the top of their game when they square up with Milan in one of the “classics” of Italian football on Saturday night.

While the hosts approach the blockbuster clash full of confidence following a run of 12 unbeaten matches in Serie A, Milan have suffered five defeats in the same period of time and continue to be plagued by inconsistency.

But the meeting of historic rivals always has the potential to produce surprises and Tevez says he and his team-mates must be prepared for anything the Rossoneri have to throw at them.

Speaking to Laura Barriales on Jtv’s ‘Filo Diretto’, the Argentine began: “We may be up against a Milan side who aren’t enjoying the best of times, but it’s still a classic of Italian football. It’s a different game to all the others and we can’t let our guard down. We have to give it everything we’ve got.”

A victory over Filippo Inzaghi’s men would take Juventus one step closer towards their main target of a 33rd Scudetto title, an achievement Tevez holds in the highest esteem given the challenges posed by Serie A as a division.

“Lifting four titles in a row is not an easy feat, especially in such a tactical and physical league. Winning a fourth consecutive championship would see us make even more history.”

After enjoying a strong first campaign in Turin, Tevez continues to prove a menace for opposition defences and cites Massimiliano Allegri’s tactical adjustments as an important factor behind his current standing as the league’s top scorer.

“I feel more comfortable in a 4-3-1-2 because I’m able to fully express myself and enjoy greater licence to roam. The goal that gave me the greatest thrill was last season’s against Milan at the San Siro. The best in terms of how it came about was my strike against Parma.”

Pride is a big inspiration for the Argentine and there can be no greater honour than wearing the iconic number 10 shirt, a responsibility he says he felt comfortable with from the very first day he arrived in Turin.

“I think the management gave me the responsibility because they knew I would be able to wear the number 10 shirt and do well in it. It’s a very important number for the fans and everyone associated with the club. Personally speaking, when I put on the shirt, defending the Juventus badge really fires me up.”
