Juventus and Milan have been familiar foes in recent Coppa Italias meeting for the third consecutive year and second final in three years.
The squads have taken somewhat similar paths to the final this season as well with neither team having allowed a goal in the competition this year. Here's each team's path to the final:
ROUND OF 16
Ahead of a Christmastime showdown against Roma, the Bianconeri defeated Genoa 2-0 in the round of 16 with Paulo Dybala scoring before half-time and Gonzalo Higuain coming off the bench to put the match away late on.
For Milan, it was a comfortable 3-0 win over Hellas Verona at the San Siro. Suso and Romagnoli had the hosts up 2-0 before half-time while Cutrone put the match out of reach on 55 minutes.
QUARTER-FINAL
It was a case of two derbys in the quarter-finals as Juventus battled Derby Della Mole rivals Torino and Milan faced Inter in a Derby Della Madonnina.
On a frigid January night, the Bianconeri topped Torino 2-0 with Douglas Costa on the spot in the 16th minute to lash home a first-time strike while Mario Mandzukic cooly found the back of the net for the Bianconeri in the second half to seal passage to the semi-finals.
For Milan, it was a tense derby at the San Siro with neither side able to find a goal through 90 minutes. Cutrone would be the hero for the Rossoneri scoring in the 104th minute to earn a semi-final spot.
SEMI-FINAL
The two-legged semi-finals would see the Bianconeri taking on Bergamo side Atalanta while Milan would face Lazio with cup final spots on the line.
In the first leg, the Bianconeri would take the advantage after just three minutes as Higuain would score his second TIM Cup goal this season. On his return from injury, Gianluigi Buffon would make a stunning penalty save as well to preserve a 1-0 victory to take back to Turin.
The return leg would be a very tense affair as a game Atalanta side came in with plenty of strong play. The Bianconeri defense would stand stout, however, and Miralem Pjanic's 75th minute penalty sealed the deal and passage to a fourth consecutive cup final for Massimiliano Allegri's side!
For Milan, the semi-finals would be an extremely tight and goal-less affair against Lazio with neither side finding a breakthrough after 150 minutes of play. The Rossoneri would win a stunning see-saw shootout to book passage for a return to Rome.
