“It’s a difficult evening, which must be analysed in the context of an equally difficult period. This is the moment to take responsibility: I’m ashamed of what happened and I’m angry, but football is a team sport. You play as an 11, you lose as an 11. There is not a single person in charge, it’s a question of the group, from this we have to start again, knowing that there are nine games over a short period and that there is still a second half of the season, of which we must be at the forefront.
“We have faced teams that would have been within our reach, and we need to think deeply, both individually and as a group, and apologise to the fans, because right now we are not making them feel proud. I find it hard to think of a change at this stage: we are a group of 80/90 people, who must have the ability to stick together, to put out onto the pitch the individual and collective skills that this squad has.
“As for the measures to be taken, these are the decisions that are up to the coach. I believe in respecting roles, my comments, I repeat, is as a collective. We are going through a negative period, from which we have to get out of it one step at a time, one game at a time, to rediscover our abilities and recognise what we’re capable of.”
