Speaking after the 3-1 home win over Milan, he said: “This was such an important juncture in our season. We played well and were ruthless. Luck was on our side but I fully believe that you need to look for that yourself.
“After years of victories and success, we still have the desire to handle tough games, and do so with humility. That shows the qualities we have. That goes for all of us – those who go out onto the pitch and the staff, as well as the club of course.
“We have lots of captains in this team, not just he who wears the armband.”
Buffon was also complimentary of Saturday’s opponents: “They are a team transformed compared to the last time we met them. With Gennaro Gattuso they’ve become a solid unit.
“They’re one of the most in-form teams at the moment. Their coach knows how to harness the qualities of his players.”
Looking ahead to Juventus’ cup commitments, he added: “We need to prepare as well as we can for the match – we’ll need the utmost support from all our fans.”
