The words "+39 Rispetto" ("+39 Respect") projected onto the facade of Turin's central landmark, La Mole Antonelliana, concluded a special day of remembrance throughout the city in honour of the victims of Heysel 33 years after the tragic events in Brussels.
The day began with the renaming of a piazza after the Heysel victims, located between Lungo Dora Agrigento and Strada del Fortino, an event at which Gianluca Pessotto represented Juventus.
The commemorations continued into the evening at the Sala delle Colonne within the city hall of Turin, where the monologue of Gianluca Favetto was recited from the book "Il giorno perduto", to remember the 39 fans who lost their lives in Brussels.
Hence the message "+39 Rispetto" projected onto the Mole Antonelliana as the sun set over Turin.
Prior to today, events had already starting taking place to commemorate the tragedy of 33 years ago. On 13 May in Moncalieri, the municipal sports facility, "Vignotto", was named after Domenico Russo, one of the victims.
Meanwhile, on 25 May, Gianluca Pessotto attended another ceremony held in the gardens of the Sanctuary "Madonna delle Grazie", in Cherasco.
The next event dedicated to the memory of the victims will be held on 9 June in Brussels. Juventus Museum President, Paolo Garimberti, and Pessotto will deposit a symbolic bouquet of flowers from Juventus in front of the memorial plaque commemorating those lost at Heysel.
Many are the moments to make sure that the 39 angels will always be with us.
