Having overcome Racing FC Union Luxembourg, Juventus Women now go up against Kiryat Gat for a place in Round 2 of the Women's Champions League. The champions of Isreal last season claimed their fourth league title and their third national cup. Completing the club's trophy haul are the two most recent Athena Cups - the Israeli Super Cup - making Kiryat Gat the first team to win the domestic treble, not once but twice.
SEMI-FINAL SUCCESS OVER FLORA TALLIN
Flora Tallin - Kiryat Gat was the first UWCL Group 6 Round 1 match to be played at Vinovo, a few hours before Juventus Women took on Racing Union. The team from Israel powered to a 5-0 success, including a hat-trick from Brazilian striker Dany Helena and further goals from Shaked Horovitz and Shahar Nakav. Coach Eyal Sade adopted a 4-4-1-1 set-up, which as the result suggests is geared to attack.
UWCL LAST SEASON
Last year Kiryat Gat found themselves in the same group as Racing Union, again without facing the side from Luxembourg. Completing the group were Benfica, who defeated the Israelis in the first match 4-0 to then qualify to the second round, and Ženski Sarajevo Fudbal Klub 2000. Kiryat Gat played the game for third place in the group against the team from Bosnia and were defeated on penalties after extra time ended at 1-1.
