Juventus Women wrapped up their pre-season preparations with a 3-1 friendly defeat to Pomigliano – the team they will face on the opening day of Serie A. Cristiana Girelli put Juve in front but Pomigliano turned the tables with goals by Danielle Cox, Giusy Moraca and Marija Banusic.
The match began as expected, with Juve in control of proceedings and Pomigliano sitting deep and looking to play on the counter. After several early efforts, Joe Montemurro's side took the lead after 10 minutes when Agnese Bonfantini crossed for Girelli to turn in.
A few minutes later Bonfantini had the chance to make it two but she lifted her finish over. Further chances followed for Barbara Bonansea and Andrea Staskova, but neither was able to hit the target.
Pomigliano equalised against the run of play shortly before the interval when Cox was the quickest to pounce following Roberta Aprile's initial save.
That goal seemed to energise the visitors as they came out from the break champing at the bit and Aprile had to be alert to twice deny Dalila Ippolito in the 54th minute.
Juve had the chance to restore their lead moments later when Bonfantini was brought down in the area. Girelli stepped up to the spot but saw her penalty saved by Sara Cetinja.
Pomigliano then found a second of their own as Giorgia Tudisco orchestrated a counter-attack and Moraca applied the finish.
The Bianconere piled forward in search of an equaliser but Cetinja again came to Pomigliano's rescue when she denied Staskova.
The visitors then shut up shop and managed to keep Juve at bay before adding a third with five minutes remaining. Banusic won possession and took a shot from long distance, catching Valentina Soggiu – who had replaced Aprile – off her line.
Juventus Women thus end their summer friendly programme with three wins and two defeats and will now turn their attentions to their Champions League qualifying clash against Kamenica Sasa on Wednesday 18 August.
