The July women’s international fixtures have been and gone, and a number of our ladies confirmed qualification for the 2025 Women’s European Championship in Switzerland.

So, let's take a dive into the recent international fixtures and see how our Bianconere fared.

ITALY

The Azzurre won 4-0 against Finland in Bolzano to seal qualification for Euro 2025 and Cecilia Salvai, Martina Lenzini, Arianna Caruso and Barbara Bonansea all started the game. Chiara Beccari was also named in the XI by Andrea Soncin, and she opened the scoring for Italy.

Sofia Cantore came off the bench to provide the assist for Michela Cambiaghi’s goal - Italy’s third - and Valentina Bergamaschi looked for a moment to have scored as well, but the ball had crossed the line before being pushed back her way.

FRANCE

France fell to a 3-1 defeat in Cork against Ireland, though their qualification hopes for next summer’s tournament were not damaged and they still topped the group. Pauline Peyraud-Magnin made way in goal and took her place on the bench, while Estelle Cascarino played an hour at left-back.

DENMARK

Three more points for the Danes were secured with the help of new Bianconera Amalie Vangsgaard. Denmark beat Czechia 2-0 and Vangsgaard started. Like France, they had already qualified.

SWITZERLAND

Qualified as hosts of next summer’s tournament, the Swiss claimed a 3-0 win over Azerbaijan and Viola Calligaris - fresh from completing a permanent move to stay with the Bianconere - was on the scoresheet.

New signing Alisha Lehmann came off the bench for the second half as well.

SWEDEN

Sweden drew 0-0 with England to confirm their place in the qualification playoffs, with Hanna Bennison coming off the bench in the second half.
