04 November 2022
On Saturday 5th November Juventus Women will play for their first trophy of the season at the Tardini Stadium in Parma against Roma. On another occasion, 6th January 2021, the same match was held for the semi-finals of the Italian Super Cup, which was a memorable game for many reasons.
THE TEAM LINE-UP
Bacic; Hyyrynen, Salvai, Sembrant, Boattin; Rosucci, Galli, Caruso; Bonansea, Girelli, Hurtig.
GOOD START FOR ROMA
Remembering how the league game went at Vinovo, which had seen Juventus Women close the game in the first half that finished 4-1 to the Bianconere, Roma instead had an excellent start to semi-final and almost took the lead through a penalty. However, Andressa missed the spot kick and then progressively the balance of the game would shift.
THE FIRST GOAL OF 2021
Barbara Bonansea opens the Bianconere's account of the year. The number 11 gives Juve the lead in the middle of the first half that we carry into the interval. However, the game is far from over.....
PARMA DRAMA
Everything happens in the second half! Roma equalise in the 48th minute through Allyson Swaby, but then spend much of the rest of the game down to 10, after goalkeeper, Ceasar is red carded for handling the ball outside of the area when trying to prevent Maria Alves' lob from ending up in the back of the net. The Romans hold on and we go into extra-time, which is at first halted due to a hailstorm.
THE DECISIVE GOAL
The decisive moment arrives four minutes from the end of extra-time with penalties looming. The action is initiated by Bonansea who gives the ball to Tuija Hyyrynen, who then crosses into the area which Cristiana Girelli gets a perfect, powerful headed to and makes it 2-1 that wins a very difficult and exciting match for Juve.
