Juan Cuadrado continued his strong 2018 World Cup, but Colombia's road came to an end on Tuesday night in Moscow falling on penalty kicks to England after a 1-1 draw.
A tense affair at the Spartak Stadium was brought to a boil in the 57th minute as Carlos Sanchez was whistled for a foul in the area on Harry Kane. The England forward scored the penalty in the 57th minute to put the Three Lions in front.
A first quarter-final spot for England since 2006 looked on the cards until Yerry Mina headed in Cuadrado's corner in the first minute of extra time to equalize and send the match to a further 30 minutes.
The match would go to PK's with Cuadrado scoring his, but Carlos Bacca was denied by Jordan Pickford and then Eric Dier scored the winning kick to move England on to the next round where they will face Sweden.
World Cup 2018 sadly takes a two-day break now with the quarter-finals set to start on Friday where Blaise Matuidi's France will face Rodrigo Bentancur's Uruguay at 16.00 CEST.
