With Serie A having returned from its latest international break this weekend, Juventus have had to wait until Monday to return to action. Ahead of the Bianconere’s big away game at Roma, Coach Giuseppe Zappella has given his pre-match thoughts.
Monday’s game against the Giallorosse is set for 18:00 CEST in the capital.
BACK TO ACTION AFTER THE BREAK
“The girls have returned in good form from their national teams. They all picked up good results, so they’ve come back with a lot of desire. Of course for the Italian girls there’s a bit of regret after the loss to Finland, especially after their big win against the Netherlands, but I’m sure that they’re ready to give their all for our next league game.”
TAKING ON ROMA
“We’ll face a tough team in Roma, but if we want to build on our excellent win against Fiorentina then we’ll have to play well in every way, especially from a mental standpoint. We know that we’re facing the strongest opponent we have at the moment, and we need to come into the game with real character. The group is good, calm. There’s a good atmosphere and I’m happy about that, so we’ll go away to Rome knowing that we have recovered something important as a squad. As I’ve said a few times in these last few weeks, there’s a lot of potential in this squad that hasn’t been shown this season, and that has to shine through in our last six games of the campaign. They will all be important games for us, not so much for the table, but to rediscover the right spirit of what it means to be Juventus. The girls need to always be aware of the importance of the shirt they’re representing.”
GAMA AND CARUSO: TWO IMPORTANT RENEWALS
“In the last few days we’ve experienced some very strong emotions with the renewals of Sara Gama and Arianna Caruso. Regarding Sara, I think what we saw from her on the field last time out against Fiorentina says all that needs to be said. She’s the captain of this team, it’s felt and seen. I’m really happy for her because this team needs a player who can motivate it like she does.
“On Arianna, she’s the player with the most appearances for Juventus and she’s still so young. I think that her path so far has been unique, even if she doesn’t know it [laughs], she should understand how extraordinary her journey has been. What she’s done isn’t something that just anybody can do, and she should be extremely proud of herself.”
