A STOP-OFF ON THE WAY TO VICTORY

There was one constant in Juve's opening two French away nights in the UEFA Cup - a trip to Paris. The first visit to the French capital occured in the season 1989-90.

It was the first leg of the round of 32 and a goal by Portuguese Rui Barros allowed the Bianconeri to overcome Paris Saint Germain. Qualification to the next round was completed in the return leg in Turin. In fact, the UEFA Cup would finish in the Juve trophy cabinet come May.

ON THE LINE

The second trip to Paris was not long in coming. Four years later, PSG-Juventus was direcly worth a place in the final. After a 2-1 win at the Delle Alpi for the Bianconeri, the 90 minutes at the Parc de Princes were fraught with tension.

BAGGIO BAGS THE WINNER

Just like in the first leg, when his double overturned the result, Roberto Baggio was also the man of the match in France. His deflection 13 minutes from the final whistle, as displayed on scoreboard of the Parc des Princes, ended any worries in the Juve camp.

DEFENSIVE DUTIES

A photo from the 2013-14 season visually captures the strength of the Juventus defence. The proof arrived in Lyon, in the quarter-finals of the Europa League.

And not only Giorgio Chiellini and co. conceded very little, victory came courtesy of a goal by Leonardo Bonucci, five minutes from the 90th minute.
