Juventus progressed to the Champions League quarter-finals for the second time in three seasons after yesterday’s 3-0 (5-1 aggregate) success over Borussia Dortmund at the Westfalenstadion.
Prior to kick-off, the Bianconeri boasted a 100 per cent win record at the hosts’ venue, having registered a victory back in 1993 and two more in 1995.
And Carlos Tevez’s blockbuster strike after only three minutes, the visitors’ fastest goal in the Champions League this season, put Massimiliano Allegri’s men in a fine position to make it four triumphs out of four in Dortmund early on.
Jurgen Klopp’s side rallied in the second half but Alvaro Morata’s second European goal for the club, and his third overall versus German opposition, all but sealed another famous away outing for the Serie A league leaders with 20 minutes to play.
Juventus added further gloss to a perfect performance when Tevez fired in his second with an excellent effort from 20 yards out. It was the team's 22nd goal from outside the area this season, with three of these coming in the Champions League.
The result also means Allegri’s men inflicted Dortmund’s joint-highest home defeat in a UEFA competition (along with their 3-0 loss against Rosenborg in 1999) and the Bianconeri will now look forward to a quarter-final spot.
