Italy clinched third place in the Nations League by beating the Netherlands 3-2 in Enschede, at the home of FC Twente, and the decisive goal was scored by Juventus’ very own Federico Chiesa.
The Azzurri got themselves two goals to the good in the first half with strikes from Federico Dimarco and Davide Frattesi. The Netherlands halved the deficit in the 68th minute through Steven Bergwijn, but Chiesa restored the two-goal cushion in the 72nd minute, just nine minutes after coming off the bench.
Chiesa’s goal proved to be decisive by the end as Georginio Wijnaldum's 89th minute strike proved to be a mere consolation for the hosts.
In all, Chiesa put in an impressive performance on what was his 42nd appearance for the national team.
