We took a look at how Juventus Women score their goals, but in every strike there is much more to it. Scoring provides emotion and it is the arrival point of every game. It is the key to a victory, and sometimes it has a further special meaning to it. This season the Bianconere have scored several special goals, important for the team, for the stats or from a personal perspective.
FIRST GOAL IN A EUROPEAN COMPETITION
Andrea Staskova's goal in Barcelona in the return leg of the UEFA Women's Champions League against the Catalans has many firsts. It was her first goal in an official match with the Juventus shirt, but also Juventus' first away goal in the tournament and the first scored by a foreigner. In the previous edition, in fact, the two goals scored against Brøndby in Novara had come off the boots of Barbara Bonansea. The Czech striker's header may not have been enough to secure qualification, but it sealed a courageous and high level performance by the girls.
JUVE-FLORENTIA, TWO FIRST TIMERS
13 October 2019, matchday three in the league: the Bianconere secured a third consecutive victory, coutesy of the new arrivals. After a usual goal from Cristiana Girelli, the vistors, in fact, drew level through Dupuy. In order to conquer three points, they team needed goals from their newbies: this marked the occasion for a debut goal from both Linda Sembrant and Maria Alves.
SUPERGOAL!
These goals secured the Bianconere's first trophy of the season: Cristiana Girelli and Andrea Staskova found the back of the net in the Italian Super Cup final against Fiorentina to secure a 2-0 win in Cesena. It was the first Super Cup win in Juventus Women's history.
200!
It was a goal that would go down in history. The first of the seven goals scored by the Bianconere against Orobica on 7 December 2019 was in fact the 200th strike in the history of Juventus Women (who in the meantime are already sailing towards 250). Valentina Cernoia was the protagonist of this milestone.
RETURNING TO DUTY
Also in Orobica-Juve. Juve were four goals ahead when Barbara Bonansea scored the to make it 0-5. For her, it was a special strike: it marked her return to scoring after an injury that forced her to miss the first part of the season.
Likewise, a special goal also awaited Cecilia Salvai in the Italian Cup against Fortitudo Mozzecane. Like Bonansea's, it was not very significant for the final result (0-8 at the end), but precious for Cecilia who also marked her return to action, and scoring, following an injury to the anterior cruciate ligament that kept her out since the Premiere against Fiorentina at the Allianz Stadium.
On the subject of returning to action, Bonansea longed to see her name again amongst the goalscorers in a big match, and she achieved it! Juve-Inter on February 16 was the perfect match. It finished 5-1 to Rita Guarino's ladies with a goal from Bonansea that saw her scream in celebration.
THE FIRST STRIKES
In the Italian Cup coach Guarino gave ample space to the youngsters. Asia Bragonzi, who scored a hat-trick, and Melissa Bellucci both found the back of the net against Fortitudo Mozzecane, among them was Michela Giordano, who scored her first strike for Juve too. A month later at Nereo Rocco in Trieste, Annahita Zamanian made her debut for the Bianconere against Tavagnacco. And what a dream debut it was as she wound up celebrating her first goal for the Bianconere.
ANDREA'S RECORD
Staskova's debut campaign for the Bianconere has been special. She has always provided the goals when called into action and outside of the goals she scored in the Champions League and in the Italian Super Cup, she also has two in Serie A and three in the Italian Cup (hat-trick at Empoli). Her seven strikes in total make her the only player to have scored in all competitions Juventus has competed in. If that's not enough, she is also the youngest foreign footballer to have scored in Serie A this season.
TUIJA!
She has been with the Bianconer since the beginning, since the first season of the Juventus Women. She has gone through it all with the team, tasting defeat (albeit rather scarcely) but most importantly victories. From the penalty shootout against Brescia to the Champions League debut, passing through the second Scudetto, the first Italian Cup and the first Super Cup... On the right flank, coach Guarino has never given up on Tuija Hyyrynen and she, against Verona, in the last match played so far, she managed to do what she has been patiently dreaming about: score. It was a precious goal that unlocked the scoreline before the interval and thus line-up a second half of goals for her teammates. It was a much deserved celebration.
