Happy Birthday, Francesco!

A legend from Juventus’ formidable rearguard of the 1970s, today Francesco Morini celebrates his 71st birthday.

After six years with Sampdoria, in which he helped the Ligurian outfit to promotion from Serie B, the centre-back joined the Bianconeri in 1969, winning five league titles, a Coppa Italia and the 1977 UEFA Cup over the course of his 10 years in Turin.

Affectionately nicknamed Morgan for his tenacity and expert ability to rob the ball off opposition strikers, the Tuscan brought his playing career to an end in 1980 before going on to serve as director of football at Juventus.
