11 October 2024
Several Juventus players took to the field for their national teams in the first matchday of October’s international break, with Andrea Cambiaso celebrating his first-ever goal for Italy.
The Italians were up after just two minutes in their Nations League clash against Belgium, Cambiaso pouncing on the rebound to put the Azzurri ahead in Rome. After going 2-0 up, the Italians went down to 10 men and would eventually have to settle for a 2-2 draw, yet still remain top of their group, a point ahead of France. Nicolo Fagioli came on in the second half, while Michele Di Gregorio was an unused substitute on the bench against the Red Devils.
Earlier on Thursday, Jonas Rouhi featured for the full 90 minutes in Sweden Under-21’s 3-2 victory over Georgia, leapfrogging their opponents into second place in their European Championship qualifying group.
In South America’s World Cup qualifiers, Juan Cabal did not feature in Colombia’s 1-0 defeat in Bolivia, while Danilo played the full match in Brazil’s much-needed 2-1 away victory in Chile, pushing them up to fourth place on the qualifying table.
