Brescia have never hosted Juventus Women in the Coppa Italia at their home ground before. There is one precedent in Serie A, however. It was season 2017/18, the Bianconere's debut, when the title was won on penalties in a play-off against the Brescian team.

During the campaign, the away success was resounding. The 4-0 thrashing showed the full strength and depth of talent the new club in Italian women's football was able to express.

LIVE ON TV

More than a thousand spectators at the stadium plus a live TV broadcast on Italy's RaiSport channel. Brescia-Juventus on Matchday 7 of Serie A highlighted how interest in women's football had clearly increased after the founding of the Bianconere.

There were also some former Brescia players in Rita Guarino's starting XI: Giuliani; Gama, Isaksen, Salvai; Hyyrynen, Rosucci, Galli, Zelem, Boattin; Bonansea, Franssi.

THE ADVANTAGE

Juve took the lead midway through the first half. A handball by Mendes resulted in a penalty, which Boattin - one of the former Brescia players - converted with confidence. Previously, the Bianconere had already gone close through a player who had signed directly from Brescia in the summer, Bonansea, but her effort clipped the crossbar.

LETHAL JUVE

The advantage boosted Juve confidence. So much so, four minutes later they doubled their lead after a lethal counter-attack. Bonansea slipped the ball to Franssi and the forward placed her shot just inside the post, where it was impossible to reach.

FOUR WITHOUT REPLY

Not even an hour was on the clock before Juve struck again. After serving two assists, this time Bonansea was the finisher, taking advantage of a cross from the right by Franssi.

A CLUB REBORN

The following season the club from Brescia was absorbed by Milan as Women's football in Italy continued to grow through the involvement of the country's top clubs. Brescia set off again from the fourth division and quickly climbed to Serie B.

Last season they missed out on a return to Serie A after drawing their penultimate match, which allowed Como to leapfrog them into top spot and claim the title - and the only promotion place - on the final day of the campaign.
