The Bianconeri’s European dream proved a step too far as they were defeated 3-1 by Barcelona during Saturday evening’s Champions League final in Berlin.
Massimiliano Allegri’s side, who were looking to end a 19-year drought in the elite competition, fought valiantly after going behind to Ivan Rakitic’s opener on four minutes, officially the third-fastest goal in Champions League final history.
Alvaro Morata gave Juventus renewed hope when he equalised at the start of the second half, sweeping home from close range for a fifth strike in his last seven European appearances.
However, despite continuing to match the Blaugrana toe-to-toe from thereon in, Luis Enrique’s men sealed the victory with two goals from as many counter attacks courtesy of Luis Suarez and Neymar.
