LAST TIME OUT
Juventus Women currently hold a three-point advantage over second-place Brescia, with season form indicating that Saturday’s game at Vinovo (15:00 CEST) is set to go a long way in deciding where the title will end up.
Last time out Juventus Women sealed qualification for next year’s Women’s Champions League by beating Sassuolo 5-0 at home in an historic win. Barbara Bonansea put the Bianconere two goals up by half-time after getting on the end of a Katie Zelem pass and then nodding in one of Zelem’s corners. The Italian forward completed her hat-trick just one minute into the second half, before Sofia Cantore scored in the 60th minute to make it four. Bonansea wasn’t done yet however, as she grabbed an incredible fourth goal of the match in the 69th minute.
SPOTLIGHT ON BRESCIA
Brescia’s last game saw them defeat Chievo 4-2 to maintain a foothold behind Juventus Women at the top of the table. Nora Heroum gave Brescia a dream start with a goal after just four minutes, with Valentina Giacinti then doubling the host’s lead nine minutes later. Chievo pulled a goal back before half-time through Lisa Faccioli, but in the second period Giacinti struck again with Aleksandra Sikora also netting to ensure the win, despite a late consolation from Chievo’s Emanuela Carradore.
Similar to the Bianconere, Brescia have won all their games this season bar their match against Juventus Women on 2 December that ended in a 4-0 away win for Rita Guarino’s girls.
Lisa Boattin put Juve 1-0 up after 24 minutes from the penalty spot after a cross from Zelem was handled. Sanni Franssi then made it two, before Aurora Galli gave the Bianconere a 3-0 half-time lead. Bonansea then managed to get on the end of Franssi cross to finish the job and ensure that all three points were heading back to Turin.
