It was a memorable first home match in Serie A for the Juventus Women running out 4-0 winners over Res Roma on Saturday afternoon at a packed Ale&Ricky Pitch in Vinovo!
Looking to build on their 3-0 matchday one win over Atalanta, Rita Guarino named an attack-minded starting XI and it didn’t take long to find the back of the net. In the 26th minute, Benedetta Glionna stripped a defender in midfield and finished on the breakaway to put the Bianconere up 1-0 scoring her second goal of the season.
After the half, Guarino’s side put the match out of reach with a flurry of attacks. In the 54th minute, one of those attacks resulted in the second goal as Luana Fracassi inadvertently sent a clearance into her own net to put the Juventus Women up 2-0.
The Bianconere took a 3-0 lead in the 64th minute as Lisa Boattin was taken down in the box with the referee pointing to the spot. Boattin converted her own penalty to put the match out of reach.
There was still time for one more goal, however, as Aurora Galli took a cross at the top of the box and finished a perfectly-placed shot low and into the corner to round out the scoring at 4-0 Juventus women.
A perfect 2-0-0 on the season, next up for the Juventus Women is a trip to Empoli on Saturday, 28 October looking to continue their fantastic start to the inaugural campaign.
