Giuseppe Marotta acknowleges Juventus will face testing Champions League ties against Group D opponents Manchester City, Sevilla and Borussia Monchengladbach but is confident the team will be able to rise to the challenge that lies ahead.
The club CEO was at Monaco’s Grimaldi Forum for this evening’s draw and believes all four sides will be in for difficult fixtures as they bid to progress through to the competition’s knockout stages.
He said: “We are Juventus and mustn’t fear anything or anyone. We’ll take on everyone with the right mentality, aiming to come away with a result and honouring the shirt as best we can. There are no easy teams in this group and the fact it’s evenly poised means the games will be tough for every side.”
An intriguing twist of fate means the Bianconeri will instantly meet a friendly face in Fernando Llorente, who left the club today in a move to Sevilla, and Marotta says he is looking forward to greeting the Spanish forward when the two sides line up against each other.
“That’s the nice thing about football. Fernando isn’t just a fine player, he’s also a great guy and it will be nice to see him again, even though we’ll be aiming for the victory,” he concluded.
