The Bianconeri’s next Champions League opponents Monaco maintained their upward momentum with a third straight domestic success on Sunday afternoon, overcoming Reims 3-1 at the Stade Auguste Delaune.
Two strikes inside the opening 15 minutes ensured a comfortable start to proceedings, with Fabinho and Anthony Martial providing the goalscoring touch for a Monaco outfit hunting their first win in Reims since 1978.
Diego reduced the arrears to set up an interesting finish with 20 minutes remaining, but Nabil Dirar made sure of the points when he struck in the final stages, ensuring a deserved victory for Leonardo Jardim’s men.
The triumph keeps Monaco firmly in the European hunt in fourth position, just six points off current leaders PSG and with a game in hand.
