Resilience was the order of the day in Monte Carlo on Wednesday, with a goalless shutout against Monaco earning the Bianconeri their first Champions League semi-final spot since 2003.
There was plenty of endeavour but little end product in the principality as both sides played out a full blooded encounter with clear cut goalscoring opportunities in short supply.
In fact, just two shots on target (one for each side) were recorded across the 90 minutes, the lowest figure from any match in this year’s edition.
But a clean sheet earned in testing circumstances will be music to Massimilliano Allegri’s ears, marking the team’s fifth defensive shutout in their last six Champions League games.
More stats from last night’s quarter-final second leg can be read below:
Three
Consecutive Champions League clean sheets recorded by Juventus.
Seven
Games unbeaten in the Champions League (five wins, two draws).
12
Years since the Bianconeri last took their place among Europe’s top four.
25
Crosses delivered by the hosts as they sought to find a way back into the tie. Just three for the Bianconeri, all stemming from Stephan Lichtsteiner’s right foot.
79
Tackles won by both sides, a clear indicator of the robust nature of the encounter.
109
Headers won by Juventus, a figure which shot up in the second half as Monaco opted a more direct approach following the introduction of Dimitar Berbatov.
