The first thing to do in Moscow, whether you arrive during the day or in the evening, is to take a walk in Red Square. It is immediately magnificent at first sight, with the Cathedral of San Basilio that soars in all its colours and its beauty, was built between 1555 and 1561. But in the heart of the Russian capital there is above all the Kremlin, a fortified citadel on the left bank of Moskva. It is the seat of the government of Russia, and to see it at its best, it requires some time, because the Armory, the Diamond Fund and the Square of Cathedrals all need to be visited. In addition, don't miss the Kazan Cathedral within walking distance.
You can't leave Moscow without making a trip to the Bolshoi Theater, located near the Kremlin. From there you can walk to Tverskaya Street, where you will find the best known luxury shops and numerous restaurants.
Not far away is also the Cathedral of Christ the Savior: it is the highest Orthodox church in the world. In about fifteen minutes walk, you will reach via Arbat, a pedestrian street much loved by tourists and one that is perfect for shopping.
Moving from the center, there is Gorky Park, a beautiful park where you can stroll through gardens, ponds, playgrounds for children, restaurants, places to play sports and much more. From here, to admire the city from another perspective, you can get on a boat to take a mini-cruise on the Moskva River.
Perfect for traveling, the subway, one of the busiest on the planet, is really fascinating in Moscow, and it can take you anywhere. It is fascinating because some stations really deserve a visit: especially Kievskaya, Arbatskaya, Mayakovskaya, Ploschad ’Revolyutsiy, Komsomolskaya and Novoslobodskaya are all noteworthy.
