The Second World War struck in 1939 and Turin would be heavily wounded by incessant attacks from the Allied forces. Football could not have been further from the forefront of people’s minds at this time and the game understandably disappeared for the rest of this decade.

Just like many residents, Juventus too was forced to evacuate from Turin. They took refuge in nearby town Alba, but a return to official matches would have to wait until the war was over.
