On Thursday, 11 January 2024, Juventus beat Frosinone 4-0 in the Coppa Italia to earn their safe passage into the semi-finals, where a double clash against Lazio awaits.
It was another perfect evening at the Allianz Stadium, made even more special by Coach Massimiliano Allegri celebrating his 400th match on the Bianocneri bench, combined with Arkadiusz Milik's well-taken hat-trick.
The Polish striker was the star of the show against the Ciociari and he would have scored four goals if the last one had not been (rightly) chalked off for offside.
In any case, however, Arek took the ball home, obviously also with signatures from his teammates.
You saw his photo above, but do you remember the game?
The last Juventus player to score a hat-trick in the Coppa Italia was Alessandro Del Piero, and what a very special hat-trick that was.
It was January 10, 2006 and the Bianconeri took to the field to face Fiorentina at the "Delle Alpi" in the return match of the Round of 16 of the national cup. In the first leg the match ended 2-2, consequently qualification was on the line in the return leg in Turin.
The start of the match was one to remember: just nine minutes in and Juventus broke the deadlock through Del Piero's beautiful left-footed shot from inside the penalty area. Alessandro controlled the ball with his back to the goal and in a fraction of a second he managed to carve out the space to turn and kick with his left foot, leaving Frey with no chance in the Fiorentina goal. That was his 183rd goal for Juventus, a goal different from all the others as it made him the top scorer in the history of Juventus, surpassing none other than Giampiero Boniperti.
That evening would already have been perfect as it was, but it didn't stop there. At the final whistle the match would end with a triumph for the team coached at the time by Fabio Capello: 4-1 over the Tuscans and a hat-trick for Del Piero who, after scoring with his left foot, would also net a delicious free kick and then, in the second half, slot home a penalty kick as well.
In summary: the perfect hat-trick on a perfect evening.
