The words of the Juve youngsters. Today at Allianz Stadium, Nicolò Fagioli, Fabio Miretti and Matias Soulé all spoke at the arranged press conference, accompanied by the Chief Executive Officer, Maurizio Arrivabene, and by the Men’s Teams Director, Federico Cherubini.
MAURIZIO ARRIVABENE
"Today we present the fruit of the great work that has been done in the Juventus Youth Sector. It's an important opportunity because the project began four years ago and was started with Federico Cherubini and then developed and carried out by Gigi Milani, Massimiliano Scaglia and Giovanni Manna. I want to publicly thank each of them, and if these three lads are in the First Team today it is also thanks to their work. The definition of Next Gen doesn't only express through the name what is an initiative from a sporting point of view, but it is also a broader term. For us, Next Gen doesn't just mean football, but it must be an example that these youngsters must give to the new generations. It means, and Fabio Miretti knows it well: taking the high school exams and continuing with education. It's important for Juventus to make investments that are sustainable and ethically useful. Regarding the transfer market: there is a precise strategy regarding these choices, a strategy that is also linked to these young guys. A young person who comes into the team needs a mentor. These guys will need to rely on the players who are already at high levels in order to make them become champions. I close with another thank you, to Gianluca Pessotto, a determined and humble person who has made a great contribution to these lads' careers."
FEDERICO CHERUBINI
"This presentation represents a moment for us to reflect on the sports project. We have made heavy investments in structures, coaches and methodologies. An important theme is the path: usually at the end of the Primavera championship the players enter into a limbo, since no more than 2-3% of them usually find a place in a Serie A squad. And so we started the project of the second team, today known as: Juventus Next Gen, beginning a very virtuous path with the Lega Pro. A league which welcomed us despite many difficulties. A team born with clear objectives: sporting - given that in recent seasons we have reached the playoffs and won a Serie C Coppa Italia and training - for the players. Today is the first day where we can say that we are reaping the seeds of our work."
NICOLÒ FAGIOLI
"I started my journey at Juventus with the Giovanissimi Nazionali, then Allievi, Primavera and Under 23, and then went on loan to Cremonese in Serie B last season. It was easy to choose Juve, Gigi Milani brought me here when I was 11 years old and I have always been a Juventus fan. I know what it means to play for this shirt, I have realised the dream of reaching the First Team, I am really happy. When I played in the second Juventus team it was very important for me, it helped me a lot, since the jump from the Primavera to the First Team is too big."
FABIO MIRETTI
"I came to Juventus when I was a child, I was eight years old, and I went all the way in the Youth Sector. I've always been a fan of this team. Having grown up in the nursery makes us arrive in the First Team ready and aware of the importance of wearing this shirt. My job is to learn from the most experienced players. When I first started playing football my idol was Pavel Nedved, then I changed my role and now my point of reference is Kevin De Bruyne. For me, being here is a dream and over the years it has become a goal."
MATIAS SOULÉ
"I've been here since I was 17 years old. I remember that I was at a barbecue in Argentina with my dad and my agent, there were three clubs interested in me. I immediately chose Juve because I liked it as a challenge. From an early age I dreamed of such big things. My goal is to make as many appearances as possible in Serie A. I have just began my career in the First Team, I am calm and I know that my time will come, I always train 100%."
