It will be a historic occasion for the Primavera, tomorrow at 13:00 CET, they will face Dinamo Kiev. Just like two years ago, when the Bianconeri featured in the play-off against Ajax, have the possibility to progress for the first time to the Last 16 of the UEFA Youth League.
With no return leg fixture, it’s a once off outing.
THE TWO TEAMS IN THE UYL
The mechanism of these playoffs is as follows: the eight clubs in the group stage meet the same number of teams from the "National Champions". The winners of these eight games will play, in the second round, the group winners.
Juventus finished second in its group, behind Manchester United, who had already qualified for the knockout stages.
Dinamo, on the other hand, has qualified for the play-offs under the "National Champions" route, having won the Ukrainian championship. In fact, this was followed by the winners of the National Junior Championships. Juve's opposing team won three games and drew one, scoring nine goals and conceding three.
A recent match for Dinamo against Italian opposition was against Inter, in which they won 3-0 in 2017.
THE STADIUM
The game will take place at the Dinamo Stadium, a stadium which boasts nearly 17 000 seats, and is home to the local side’s home matches. Dinamo Kiev, however, use the Olympic Stadium.
In 2002, the stadium which was built in the ‘30s, was named after Valerij Lobanovskyj, an unforgettable footballer and technical commissioner. He sadly passed away on May 13 of the same year at the age of 63.
