11 December 2023
Two goals in seven days.
Two goals in two consecutive appearances in Serie A.
We have already told you about Federico Gatti's incredible week, but this isn't a once-off - defenders scoring in back-to-back games has happened twice in recent Juventus history.
2010, CHIELLINI
25 March 2010: It's Napoli-Juventus at the San Paolo, today the Maradona Stadium: in the 7th minute Giorgio Chiellini buries a cross, perfectly put into the area by Alessandro Del Piero, to open the scoring, in a game Napoli would win 3-1.
11 April 2010: Juventus-Cagliari is played at the Olympic Stadium in Turin. In the 35th minute Chiellini jumps highest, getting the better of Marchetti to turn home the loose played played in by Amauri. It is the goal that makes it 1-0, which turns out to be the match-winner.
2016, ALEX SANDRO
17 January 2016: Juve wins 4-0 in Udine, the scorers on the day including Paulo Dybala (a brace), Sami Khedira and, in the 42nd minute of the first half, a right-footed strike from Alex Sandro, which left the opposition keeper no chance.
31 January 2016: After two appearances in the Italian Cup, Alex Sandro returns to the pitch in Serie A in Verona against Chievo. Another match in the north-east, another four goals in the bag, and another scoreboard bearing Alex Sandro's name. He scores the third of the match in the 61st minute, another great strike from inside the area, from a similar position to that of Udine, to make it two goals on the bounce.
